As an ectomorph you're probably well aware of the struggle to get any kind of weight, build muscle and get bigger, no matter how much you eat or train.
Unfortunately, much of the advice available in weights of the press is not really fitness-oriented and ectomorph ectomorph and it can seriously harm your efforts to gain muscle mass if you follow what they recommend.
Here, I offer some ectomorph bodybuilding strategies that can really help you gain weight and build muscle quickly without turning into a gym rat.
You Are What You Eat
The main aspect of bodybuilding is your right ectomorph diet. My favorite phrase is "if you want to get BIG, you must eat BIG "… and if this is true of the ectomorph.
You need to significantly increase your consumption daily calories and split them on 6 meals. This ensures a regular supply of calories and energy to feed your muscles, which is essential for an ectomorph has a naturally high metabolism.
Reduce your workouts Cardio
Cardio workouts are excellent for fat loss, but it can make muscle building a little more difficult, especially for ectomorph.
Since our goal is to increase your weight fast, we must create a caloric surplus as much as possible (hence why we eat a heck of a lot more each day). In this regard, cardio makes our life more difficult, because it burns more calories that could otherwise be used to our muscles.
A good bodybuilding routine ectomorph has a small piece of cardio, usually as a warm up, or just short sessions once or twice a week.
Working Out Not more than 3 times per week
Most ectomorph who start a bodybuilding routine make the mistake of thinking that the more they form the best, after all they need to catch up with everyone at the gym, right?
This is a big mistake. Ectomorph bodybuilding requires you to workout no more than 3 times per week (lasting between 45 minutes to 1 hour each), this leaves days of rest required between each workout and prevents the possibility of overtraining. Rest is essential for muscle growth, as this is when the fastest growing … not applicable in the gym.
Focus on compound exercises
A solid routine ectomorph bodybuilding relies heavily on compound exercises versus isolation exercises because they recruit more groups of muscles and muscle fibers through exercise, which accelerates muscle growth.
Compound exercises such as squats, deadlifts, Bench press and bent over rows are the bread and butter of any ectomorph bodybuilder, because they allow you to lift heavy and generate a greater quantity testosterone, which feeds the larger, stronger and better muscles.
Lift Heavy With Low Reps
Typically, most skinny guys fail to lift heavy enough weights in their ectomorph workout in the belief that high numbers of repetitions is more beneficial more muscle building.
However, the secret to ectomorph bodybuilding is lifting as heavy as possible on lower numbers of reps, say 6-10, and making sure that the last rep is almost impossible to complete.
