Powerlifting is a strength sport consisting of three events, or subjects if you want. These include the squat, the bench and lifted off the ground. Like any other sport that requires strength training, powerlifting has its own rules, exercise techniques and specific equipment. Must years of practice to master the proper techniques and become an established professional athlete in this sport.

Powerlifting has begun to USA. Initially there was no powerlifting, but something that has been called odd lifts. Sports, for example, encompassed a wide range of packages heavy, which sometimes included exercises this as squat, bench press and lifted off the ground. In-State, the rules varied until given the sport as we know it today was formed. From there it has been popularized and widely accepted in Russia, the United Kingdom and in many countries around the world.

Today we have a number of federations in the world this feature separately from each other with their specific version of the regulations. The International Powerlifting Federation (IPF), this international body which governs the sport of powerlifting. Some of the largest federations include RAW, USAPL, ADFPF, WPC, WPO, APF, and so on. They all turn their own specific rules on lifts that are performed, equipment is used, whether drug testing will be performed and many other related issues.

Powerlifting consists of very specific training force, where the objective is to achieve a lift maximum and not muscle stimulation, which is often the main objective in sports related, such as bodybuilding. Fast contractions of muscle fibers are formed using and under the maximum weight with maximum repetition count low. Nutrition is planned around training to meet the necessary recovery and growth of muscles and tendons in the body. The schedule involves eating mainly the use of many proteins and carbohydrates to fuel the training. In addition to the basic compound movements, powerlifting training includes many additional exercises to strengthen certain parts of the body. Although it is thus, the emphasis is still on building power in the three main events: squat, bench press and lifted off the ground.

Clothing that is used for powerlifting is usually made from strong and durable single-ply (single-layer) polyester material. Furthermore, the costumes are made from powerlifting denim and canvas materials and multiple layers (multi-ply) that are allowed or not, according to the federation specific that you are competing wrist and knee wraps in wraps are used to protect joints and tendons of intense training and competition and prevent any possibility of injury.

Some of the most prolific powerlifters professionals who are used to establish records in their time were Rickey Dale Crain, Lee Moran, Ed Coan, Kirk Karwoski and several others. They did what powerlifting sport it is today.

What is important is to differentiate powerlifting other similar sports such as weightlifting, Bodybuilding and Strongman. People often confuse these sports for another, which is not unusual, because they all have something in common, and is training to reach the powerful and lifts increase force.
